Today, I had the privilege of participating in the Recording Academy's Music Advocacy Day and met with Representative Nydia Velázquez to discuss important bills that would benefit the music community. These bills include:
NO FAKES Act (H.R. 9551): This bill aims to protect artists from deepfakes and clones created using generative AI.
American Music Tourism Act (H.R. 8843): This bill seeks to boost the music industry and increase tourism by promoting music tourism initiatives.
HITS Act (H.R. 1259): This bill provides a tax break for independent artists and songwriters.
American Music Fairness Act (H.R. 791): This bill would establish a performance right for sound recordings broadcast on AM/FM radio.
Her continued support has been incremental, as we work to improve the music industry as we know it.
Furthermore, it was a humbling experience to have a seat at the table with the very first latina to occupy the United States House of Representatiaves... y es una BORICUA. WEEEPAAAA!!! I got to give her her flowers and thank her for inspiring latinas all around the world to use their voices and lead with courage. A moment I will never forget!
